How can artists and grassroots organizations be better at making real political changes? In this workshop, we will explore how the framework of Music Cities can be developed into a tool suitable for cultural grassroots movements that want to change the working conditions in their local cities. The aim of the workshop is to give you a deeper understanding of policy making by co-developing the concept: "The Grass Root Cultural City Checklist". We will discuss what describes a music/cultural city, how you can strengthen your network, and how to have a stronger public voice. Lena Ingwartsen from Music Cities Network will run this session along with Jesper Mardahl from Promus and contribute with insights from a year-long practice as a policy-maker. Afraid of politics? Don't worry. This session will turn the tables and put the arts in the forefront - not the political system! Meet: - Lena Ingwersen, Managing Director, Music Cities Network - Jesper Mardahl, CEO, PROMUS About: The Music Cities Network is a transnational non-profit association embracing the collaboration between and within music cities around the globe. Following a holistic approach, the network is dedicated to bridge the gaps between all music city stakeholders: policy makers, city marketing strategists, music business professionals and artists are encouraged and supported to work towards a future-proofed creation of music ecosystems that are sustainable and resilient.
